Your privacy, in plain English
Hair loss is personal, and a lot of what you share with me is sensitive. Looking after that information properly matters to me as much as looking after your hair. Here's exactly what I collect, why, and the control you have over it — no legal fog.
Who I am
I'm Cheryl Phillips, trading as Cheshire Hair Loss, a private hair-loss and extension studio on Bank Street, Macclesfield. I'm the "data controller" for your information — the person responsible for it. You can reach me any time on 07909 006 779 or through the contact page.
What I collect, and why
- Your contact details (name, phone, email, address) — so I can arrange and look after your appointments.
- What you tell me about your hair and health — at a consultation we may talk about hair loss and its causes. This counts as special category (health) information under UK GDPR, so I only record and keep it with your clear, explicit consent, and only to give you the right advice and care.
- Photographs — only ever with your separate, specific permission, and never published anywhere without you agreeing to that too (see below).
- Booking information — if you book through Fresha, your booking details are handled by Fresha on my behalf.
- Messages you send me — through the website form, WhatsApp, email or phone.
My lawful basis
For most things it's your consent and my legitimate interest in running a caring, professional service. For anything about your health, it's your explicit consent — which you give knowingly, and can take back at any time.
How I store it, and who sees it
Your information is kept securely and seen only by me. I do not sell it, and I don't share it with anyone for marketing. The only third parties involved are the trusted services that help me run the business — for example Fresha (booking) and my website host — and they only ever process what's needed to do that job. Consultation records kept in my own system stay on my own equipment.
Cookies & the website
This website is deliberately low-tech about tracking. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and nothing that follows you around the internet — which is why you won't see an annoying cookie pop-up. I use a simple, privacy-friendly, cookie-free way of counting how many people visit which pages, so I can improve the site. It doesn't identify you.
How long I keep it
I keep your details while you're a client and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back, then I securely delete them. If you ask me to remove your information sooner, I will.
Photos & marketing — always your choice
Photographs of your hair, and any use of them on my website or social media, are only ever with your explicit, written permission, and you choose exactly how (full photo, no face, anonymous, or not at all). You can change your mind and I'll take anything down from my own channels within 7 days. Any occasional messages about appointments, aftercare or offers are opt-in, and you can stop them whenever you like.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time to: see what information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw a consent you've given. Just ask — there's no charge and no awkwardness. If you're ever unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If I update how I handle your information, I'll update this page and change the date at the top.
Any questions? Just ask meHappy to explain anything here in plain words — it's your information, and you should feel in control of it.
